Terms and Conditions

 

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully.

By placing an order with PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services you agree to be subject to the following terms and conditions;

 

  1. Quotation Validity

    • All prices quoted by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services are valid for 30 days from date of quotation.

    • Our quotations are based on an estimated number of items. This estimate is provided by the customer. If on completion of testing the actual number of items tested is significantly lower than the amount quoted for, a minimum charge may be levied (the customer will be advised of this charge (if any) at the time of quotation).

  2. Placement of Order

    • All orders placed with PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services must be confirmed in writing.

    • Orders are only accepted once an acknowledgement email has been sent by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services.

    • Once a written order has been placed by the customer and acknowledged by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services no further discounts on, or alterations to the quoted price will be made.

  3. Invoicing

    • Invoices will be sent e either electronically to a valid email address in PDF format or a hard copy will be left with the customer on completion of onsite testing.

  4. Payment Terms

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services payment terms are strictly payment on completion of onsite testing, unless differing payment terms are offered at the date of quotation. If credit terms are offered at date of quotation, then these credit terms are subject to a satisfactory credit check being obtained.

    • If a satisfactory credit check cannot be obtained then our payment terms will revert to ‘strictly payment on completion of onsite testing’.

  5. Late Payments

    • Late payments in excess of our standard payment terms are subject to an additional administration handling fee of £50.00.

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services reserves the right to take legal action regarding any outstanding payments and may authorise the use of a ‘debt recovery agency’ to recover late payments.

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services shall be entitled to interest on a daily basis, on any overdue amount from the date on which payment is due to that on which it is made of 2.5% above the Bank of England base rate.

  6. Payment Methods

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services accept payments made by cash, cheque, BACS transfer, credit and debit card and PayPal.

 

  1. Card Payments

    • Payments made by credit and debit card can only be made at site, On completion of testing. We do not accept or process card payments over the phone.

  2. VAT

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services are not VAT registered and therefore VAT is not charged on any of our prices.

  3. Cancellation Policy

    • Customers may cancel their order with PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services for no charge, up to 24 hours before testing is due to commence.

    • If an order is cancelled within 24 hours of the proposed commencement of testing then a minimum order charge of £50.00 will be levied.

  4. Testing Procedure

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services carry out portable appliance testing in strict accordance with the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (5th Edition).

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services will test all items with standard 3-pin 240v plugs or 110v (16Amp or 32Amp – Yellow) Industrial Plugs only.

    • Items with 240v (16Amp or 32Amp – Blue) and 415v (16Amp or 32Amp – Red) Industrial Plugs will only be tested if specifically requested by the customer and may incur an extra charge on top of our standard prices.

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services are neither qualified or insured to carry out inspection or testing of fixed wire appliances or fixed wire circuits. These types of fixed appliances will not be tested by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services.

    • Any items located at height or where plugs and power leads are trapped behind large/heavy objects which cannot be moved to allow the plug/power lead to be accessible will not be tested by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services.

  5. Testing of Detachable Power Leads

    • IEC power leads and other detachable power leads are tested as separate items as per the IET Code of Practice. Each detachable power lead is subject to its own specific inspection and tests and is entered into the final asset register individually. Each of these leads is charged separately.

  6. Testing of IT Equipment

    • Due to the sensitive nature of IT equipment (including PC’s, Monitors, Printers, Fax Machines, Laptop Power Supply Units, etc.). This equipment will be tested at lower voltages and test currents than used as standard.

    • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that all IT equipment is properly powered down and all data saved and backed up before testing is carried out.

    • IT equipment and PC’s will not be powered down by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineers unless express permission has been given by the customer. If permission is not given or cannot be obtained these items will be subject to a visual inspection only.

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss of data , disruption of business or damage to IT equipment caused by the portable appliance testing process.

  7. Testing of Server Equipment & Telephone Exchange Equipment

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services will not carry out inspection or testing of any IT Server equipment unless express permission is given by the customer.

    • If permission is granted then IT Server equipment will be subject only to a visual inspection. If a full portable appliance test is required on any IT Server equipment it will be the customers responsibility to ensure that these systems are properly powered down and all data backed up. Under no circumstances will PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineers power down IT Server equipment.

    • Telephone Exchange Servers are generally the property of the telephone company and are usually never switched off or unplugged, therefore these items will be subject to a visual inspection only.

  8. Testing of CCTV Equipment / Heating Control Systems

    • Equipment such as CCTV recording equipment, central heating control equipment, burglar alarms and clocking-in machines or any other equipment that could lose its programmable memory when unplugged and disconnected from the mains power supply will only be visually inspected by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineers, unless the items have been powered down and switched off by the customer and express permission has been granted by the customer to test these items. It will be the customers responsibility to arrange for the reprogramming of this type of equipment once testing has been completed.

  9. Functional Testing

    • It is the assumption of PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services that all items presented for testing are fully functional and in working order.

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services will not carry out functional tests unless specifically requested to by the customer. Functional testing will incur an additional charge.

    • Portable appliance testing is a ‘safety inspection and testing procedure’ and does not check or guarantee that an appliance is in working order.

  10. Repairs and Retesting of Failed Equipment

    • PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services will carry out only minor repairs on any items which fail the testing procedure. These minor repairs are limited to the replacement of fuses, the re-wiring of existing plugs and the replacement of complete standard 240v 3-pin plugs only. PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services are not qualified or insured to carry out any other repairs that may be necessary.

    • Items which have failed the testing procedure but are satisfactorily repaired by the customer while our engineer is still on site will be re-tested free of charge.

    • If our engineer has to return to site to re-test any repaired items a call out a minimum call out charge of £50.00 will be levied.

  11. Documentation and Certification

    • The ownership of all test results and certificates remains the property of PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services until all invoices are paid in full.

    • Upon receipt of cleared full payment of invoices, electronic copies of the asset register with full test results and the certificate of compliance will be emailed to a valid email address provided by the customer.

 

  1. Customers Responsibilities

    • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that all electrical items are presented for testing or that access is granted/made available to all areas where items requiring testing are located.

    • It is the customers responsibility to advise PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineer of any items which cannot be powered down or disconnected from the mains supply. Or of any equipment requiring special handling precautions.

    • The customer is responsible for ensuring that all items have been tested while PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineer is on site. Any subsequent visits to site to test equipment that was missed will be subject to a minimum call out charge and invoiced separately.

    • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the customers staff cooperate with the PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineer so that testing can be carried out methodically and efficiently. If our engineer is unable to meet work targets due to excessive waiting times or being unable to access certain items then PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services may have to return to site at another time to complete testing which will incur a minimum call out charge in addition to a charge for additional items tested.

    • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that all items are powered down and disconnected from the mains supply, or that express permission has been given by the customer to PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services engineer to power down items prior to commencement of testing.

    • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that all data has been saved and backed up before commencement of testing.

  2. Limitations of Liability

    • It is the assumption of PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services that the customer is fully aware of the Portable Appliance Testing procedure and is aware of the risks involved in the testing process. Therefore PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services will accept no liability whatsoever for any damage to appliances, loss of data, loss of business, contracts, profits or any indirect or consequential or economic loss whatsoever caused by the Portable Appliance Testing process carried out by PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services.

PAT-Check Electrical Testing Services reserve the right to make any changes to our terms and conditions at any time without giving notice. It is the responsibility of the customer to keep up to date with these terms and conditions. Your statutory rights are not affected.
